John Sisk & Son has appointed Steven McGee to the newly expanded role of chief operating officer (COO) for Ireland and the UK.
McGee joined Sisk in June 2022 as COO for Ireland, following five years at ISG as managing director.
He said in a statement: “I welcome the challenge of my new role leading both divisions, as I have significant experience in both the UK and Irish construction markets across multiple sectors, and look forward to supporting our existing clients and developing relationships with new ones.”
McGee replaces Ajaz Shafi, who is pursuing an opportunity in the Middle East. Shafi joined Sisk in 2013 as manager of its United Arab Emirates division, before working his way up to COO for UK construction and civil engineering.
Chief executive Paul Brown said: “Since Steven has come into the business last year, he has been a valuable asset and contributed to a significant change-management programme within the Irish business and the successful delivery of some tough legacy projects.”
Donal McCarthy remains as COO for data centres, life sciences and technology in Ireland, the UK and Europe.
Last month, Sisk reported a pre-tax loss of £2.5m for the year ending 31 December 2022, citing the impact of rising energy prices.
